On 26 November 2025, CYDO organized an advocacy meeting at the Bagerhat Municipality office with the participation of municipal authorities, business leaders, journalists, and representatives from local youth organizations. The meeting was chaired by Md. Mahide Hasan.
The discussion highlighted that waste management in Bagerhat remains a significant challenge due to limited budget allocation, shortage of modern equipment, insufficient manpower, and lack of public awareness. As a result, waste is often disposed of improperly in many areas, creating serious risks to public health and the environment.
Municipal authorities shared their future plans, which include improving the waste collection system, introducing modern technology, ensuring separate handling of recyclable waste, and strengthening collaboration with local communities and institutions. Increasing youth engagement and raising public awareness were also emphasized as essential components of sustainable waste management.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that transforming Bagerhat into a cleaner and healthier city requires coordinated efforts, technological improvements, and continuous monitoring.
“With the right planning and collective action, a clean and sustainable Bagerhat is truly achievable.”
