Green Bagerhat

Project Overview:

Climate change poses a growing threat to coastal districts like Bagerhat, where environmental degradation, rising temperatures, and loss of green cover directly impact community resilience. In response, CYDO has launched “Green Bagerhat,” an ambitious afforestation initiative aimed at planting 10,000 trees across the district.

This project focuses on restoring ecological balance, improving air quality, and strengthening natural defenses against climate risks. By engaging local communities, youth volunteers, educational institutions, and stakeholders, CYDO is working to create a greener and more climate-resilient Bagerhat for future generations.

Project Summary:

The Tree Plantation Initiative is a large-scale environmental project focused on planting 10,000 trees across Bagerhat District to counter the growing challenges of urbanization, deforestation, and climate change. Coastal areas like Bagerhat are increasingly exposed to cyclones, flooding, salinity, and rising temperatures, making nature-based solutions both urgent and practical. By restoring green cover, the project contributes to carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, soil stability, and improved air quality.

The initiative combines environmental action with community empowerment. CYDO works closely with schools, local communities, and authorities to identify suitable plantation sites such as roadsides, educational institutions, and climate-vulnerable areas. Priority is given to native and climate-resilient species to ensure higher survival rates and ecological compatibility. Youth volunteers play a central role in plantation, awareness campaigns, and follow-up care, strengthening youth leadership in climate action.

Beyond planting trees, the project emphasizes long-term monitoring, maintenance, and community ownership to ensure sustainability. By fostering environmental awareness and collective responsibility, the initiative aims to build climate-resilient communities while creating lasting ecological and social benefits. Ultimately, this project supports a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for Bagerhat.
